The Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) plans to play a pivotal role in nurturing start-ups in Singapore and beyond. A new brand was needed to position SIM at the forefront of entrepreneurship with this innovative initiative.

CHALLENGE

SIM was going to set up an entrepreneurship centre and offer a unique programme for aspiring entrepreneurs and start-ups. It needed a robust strategy which differentiated it from universities and accelerators in the market offering entrepreneurship related programmes.

SOLUTION

Recognising that the needs of every entrepreneur is different, the entrepreneurship eco-system was developed around the aspiring entrepreneur – providing him with all the knowledge, skills and environmental support required.

From Founder-Market-Fit, Learning Coaches and Mentor Engagement; to Industry Practicums, Global Collaborations and links to Investor Networks, this will be the most robust entrepreneurship eco-system in Singapore. Through our Brand Opportunity Workshop which gathered key stakeholders and partners in a deep dive session, Activiste developed a value proposition which challenged key target segments to "change their status quo" by considering a programme which would allow them to "start with an idea, graduate with a business" and indeed change the direction of their future.

The strategy, naming, design and marketing strategy project fast-tracked the brand development process by engaging multiple stakeholders, SIM management and the new staff team in getting the brand to market and supporting its recruitment activities.

IMPACT

The brand development and early outreach initiatives have garnered considerable interest and participation from aspiring entrepreneurs and partners. With 25,000 sq feet of space at the SIM management house which will be converted into Platform E co-working and learning community, the potential to seed the successful enterprises of tomorrow is becoming a reality.
