After 30 years championing the cause, Alzheimer’s Disease Association (ADA) transitioned to become Dementia Singapore in 2021; expanding its services in dementia care and broadening its scope of work to meet growing demands.
CHALLENGE: Corporate Restructure & Expanded Scope
Formed in 1990 as the ‘Alzheimer’s Disease Association’ to better serve Singapore’s growing dementia community. However, a corporate restructure in 2020 resulted in a clearer definition of its remit as well as the expansion of services, such that a re-brand was needed to signal new impetus and enlarged responsibility.
SOLUTION: Provoking Change
Through a series of stakeholder interviews, immersive visits and conversations, a new strategy, name, and brand architecture was developed — so that services, programmes and centres are better linked.
A dynamic identity system reflecting the different aspects of dementia advocacy, care and support, helps position it as a national leader in dementia care, sparking conversations and initiatives to make a difference to the lives of people living with dementia and the larger community.
IMPACT: Leading the Charge
From new collaborations to establish Singapore’s first one-stop resource portal on dementia, to a membership programme with a special mobile app for persons with dementia and caregivers, the organisation is leading the charge towards a more dementia inclusive society.
